Aktion Tagwerk 2018
March 25, 2018 @ 10:00 am - June 22, 2018 @ 7:00 pm
Each and every year, Scouting Mpumalanga
is sending two volunteers to Germany.
They are regional and national represents
by participating in a volunteer program
for 3 months called “Aktion Tagwerk”
“Aktion Tagwerk” can be described as a
campaign for students all over the world.
The idea of the campaign is, that students in Germany are going to work, planning creative projects, or doing donation runs instead of attending classes at school for one day per year.
The collected money, they spend on education projects in 7 different African countries.
Aktion Tagwerk is an initiative for students,
who want to support students for worldwide education.
The team consisting of German and South African volunteers is visiting different types of schools from Primary schools, over Highschools to Professional Schools, Inclusive Schools and Universities.
They are giving presentations to inform about the campaign and their project countries.
They are creating an intercultural exchange and build a network between foreign countries.
The 2 will also support the 3 regional offices of “Aktion Tagwerk” in Bonn, Mainz and Berlin.
From March to June they are staying in
different host families all over Germany
to dip into the culture.
For 2018 we have chosen the two Rovers
Bheki Sitole from Nkomazi District and
Thulani Ngomane from Emalahleni.
Bheki (30) has already held many different positions in Scouting Mpumalanga. Amongst other things,
he is voluntary working together and supporting German volunteers for over 14 years with passion and a constantly growing understanding of their culture. Now he finally visits Germany for the first time! He is more than welcome, that is for sure!
Thulani (22) belongs to the young and dissenting, motivated Rovers.
In 2016 he has already gone to Germany for two weeks under the name of Scouting. He is very excited to go back- this time for a long-term stay.
Our two German volunteers have run a 3-week workshop to prepare them extensively.
They had a closer look at the features of Germany, the cultural differences, topics like Racism and Gender or Public Transport.
Especially the German Lessons, Phonetics of this complicated language have challenged them a lot.
Both, participants and examiners showed full dedication and teamwork.
The visas are ready so, here we go!
We wish them an exciting time, full of events, cultural exchange and many encounters!
